- 2 filet mignon
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 yellow onion
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup basil
- Add salt and black pepper to filets on both sides. Melt 2 tbsp butter on medium-high heat in a medium sized pan. Cook the steaks on the one side for about 7 minutes, then flip.
- Toss in sliced onions and whole garlic cloves. Allow the steak to almost finish cooking to your preference. Then, set the steaks aside for now.
- Leaving the onion and garlic cloves in the pan, pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth. Mix in salt and black pepper to taste as well as basil on medium-high heat and whisk it while it bubbles.
- Place the steaks back into the pan to cook in the sauce for about 5 more minutes, stirring occasionally on medium-low heat until it thickens. Taste test the sauce and adjust salt and pepper to your preference and enjoy!
